Stylish racing by Social Media & Recruitment Executive Rebecca

So it’s that time of year again in the style calendar. It’s Race Season! Taking place at: Cheltenham, Ascot, Chester and not forgetting the Grand National- the most watched sporting event on TV, with over 60% of the UK viewing population tuning in. Fashion is almost as important as the actual racing itself, with stylish racegoers travelling from all over the globe to attend the big event. Over 150,000 to be precise. For those not attending the event, they were able to listen and watch the live commentary from BBC 5 Live and also ITV.

The Randox Health Grand National has taken place at Aintree racecourse for years and years now, with the first ever race going way back to 1839.  Female jockey and Ladies Day Ambassador Katie Walsh describes the event:

“Riding on the hallowed Aintree turf is a feeling like no other, there’s always a really great atmosphere. It’s such a massive build up to the festival, of course we’re in the zone as jockeys but you can feel the energy of the crowd”.  grand national.org.uk

It’ isn’t just your average Joe that attends either- many upon many celebrities attend, with an ever expanding list of various celebs-this year being no different. Comedian Jack Whitehall was amongst the crowds having a ball and it goes without saying that Coleen Rooney is the ‘Queen of Aintree’,we all loveeeee to see which outfit she will arrive in. This year Coleen decided on a simple yet classy black Philip Armstrong number. Many more Liverpool favourites were also spotted: Jamie Carragher, our one and only Kenny Daglish and Olympic medalist Sam Quek too. Stars of The Real Housewives of Cheshire were also spotted at the event, sporting numerous pieces from Seema Malhotra’s brand Forever Unique.

So with this said, why is it that such a negative image is portrayed by some tabloids when it comes to the big event with regards to style? Many ladies and even gents prepare months in advance for Ladies Day, also referred to as ‘Fabulous Friday’, taking full pride in their appearances. Yet the event is made out by some of the tabloids, almost like it is nothing more than a Liverpudlian fashion frenzy- honing in on individuals looking a little worse for wear after a few. However, the winner of this year’s style awards is in fact one of the youngest individuals to win, 19 year old miss Robyn May Quinn, Ireland. Named after the most successful horse in Grand National, the Style Awards is held in the Red Rum garden. Robyn wowed the judges with a super cute gold leaf crown (have you seen the detailing on that thing?!) and sheer cream floral dress with fabulous flared sleeves. For anybody wanting to style steal, bad news as you will have to make a long trip, the dress is from Bows Boutique in Derry and crown made by a lady named Amy Farell. You can style steal her cute heels though, as they were River Island.

Those who know Pulse well know that we are never one to miss a trick, our Pulsettes were out in force over the course of the three day event. Our Managing Director Irene attended on the opening day looking amazing as usual invited by valued partner The Pullman.

Whilst business director Jane was not at Aintree itself, our very own fashionista attended Ladies Day over at the Double Tree by Hilton Liverpool. Guess what? Our little beauty only went and won best dressed!!! Killing it with peach toned vibes, Jane wore a super cute strapless and layered dress from ASOS, accessorising with metallic Carvela heels, matching clutch from Matalan and of course put the cherry on the top with a gorge fascinator from Debenhams a stylish race attire must!

As far as Fabulous Friday is concerned, we do not mess about here at Pulse. Our lovely PR models Amy & Melissa attended Ladies Day with our clients ‘Montini Films’. If you haven’t seen the girls already, (who were snapped left right and centre) they oozed class and elegance; both opting for nude/ tonal outfits- make up and hair perfected. The girls were on hand to film a feature reporting Ladies Day the build up,  the style and the atmosphere. This will be featuring on German TV. Who else can say they are paid to look fabulous and enjoy themselves, all in a days work?

Also attending Ladies Day were the dream team: Abigail, Rachel and Leandro alongside myself, the one and only social media ninja! We were out killing two birds with one stone- as it were. Spreading Pulse waves left right and centre, we were grabbing attention using our hashtags ‘#PULSEpapped’ and ‘#scoutmePULSE’. Of course, we had to pick the day that it had to rain, but that did definitely NOT dampen our fun spirits.

‘#PULSEpapped’ was used to embrace style at the event - we were not disappointed. The race festival is such a great way for people to express their stylish personalities, no holding back. This is what I love about it all, it does Liverpool proud! People do not realise how well-put-together Northerners really are! We snapped away, meeting many gorgeous people dressed to the nines, see the images below for some truly effortless looks. So many people looked classy. We noticed bold colour palettes, monochrome, floral prints, 70’s vibes and a favourite of mine, timeless vintage. These themes were found in outfits worn by both male and female race goers. The gents of the day looked super smart, most were taken aback when we approached them to snap their stye!
